Office of Contract and Grant Accounting (OCGA)
I have worked at OCGA as a Student Accounting Aid since last May. My daily task is performing basic accounting duties associated with processing of monthly invoices. Currently, I work with only two accountants as their own “Sider Burn” to verify line of credit from draw down amounts, file documentation pertaining to individual contract and grants. Additionally, I perform analysis of financial data under the direction of both accountants as well as maintain accuracy of files and running errands for the department as necessary. This is an on-campus department, which owned by the University of Maryland. They provide very flexible working schedules to the students and easy to commute from classroom to the office. The office also celebrates holidays and student graduations with food and desserts. I will have my graduation party in the middle of December at the office, come to join if you have time.

Rose Financial Services
Rose Financial Services offered me a ten-week internship program in the past summer and I have been very enjoyed to be a part of RFS. As an Accounting Intern, I worked closely with the staff accountants and staff associates to process all the accounts payable, cash disbursements, billings and receivable. During my ten weeks at RFS, I have done a lot data entry into accounting systems, such as Peachtree, Quickbook and Deltek GCS Premier. I also assisted the staff with bank reconciliations, financial and management reporting, closing, payroll process and fixed assets. One thing that I enjoyed the most at RFS was to the RFS Gives Back Foundation and RFS Employees made 900 meals for local homeless shelters.  I was very fortunate to be one of the five interns during the summer since their internship program has become more competitive.

Solace Pain Management & Rehabilitation
Working at Solace as an Administrative Assistant had made me to learn more Medical vocabularies as well as the current benefit packages that are out there nowadays.  This has made me to be more aware of what kinds of insurance that employers offer to employees and the differences between each of the insurance. During my work, I consulted with patients regarding rehabilitation services and insurance coverage. I also helped to verify patients’ benefit eligibilities with insurance companies through the provider service system. I personal loved to work on Saturdays and holidays because Dr. Yao, the owner of the facility would provide delicious free Chinese food to staff who attended to work during these days.

Bread Corner
Working at Bread Corner was fun because friends loved the smell of bread when they met me at the store. I was working as an Assistant Manager and trained new cashier staff with uses of cash register and restocking bread inventory. With studying Accounting at the Smith School, I was also responsible for increase the accuracy of accounts payable and accounts receivable. Since I am a trilingual speaker, I had eased customers with difficulties through the telephone and assisted consumers as they entered the store and via phone. Although I was not a big fan of bread, I liked to work there since I could always tasted new arrival bread before all consumers if I want and received 20% off employee discount if I ordered bread or cakes for myself.

Montgomery College Math and Science Learning Center
Because I took some high level math and physics courses in high school and the first year in college, I was able to work as an academic tutor at the MC Learning Center, my daily duty was mainly helped students with understanding mathematics, chemistry, physics courses. With the programming skills that I learned from high school, I also assisted students with operating MathXL and MyMathLab program. Furthermore, I worked with students to troubleshoot the computer sign in process. Whenever I had downtime during work, I could always study my own academic courses or work on my homework. This saved me sometimes since I was working and studying at the same time.
